1. AHC Welcomes New Kansas Distributor

  2. Welcome Hannah Kendall, our newest distributor (pictured with her family) who is the proud new owner of Origins Coffeehouse, a Fair Trade Christian business that serves up all sorts of yummy beverages and sells crafts made by the disadvantaged.  If you are ever in the area they would love for you to stop by and they have a beautiful website we encourage you to visit:

  3. http://www.originscoffeehouse.com

  1. If you live near Hannah or any of the distributors listed below, they would love for you to contact them regarding a purchase or perhaps hosting a sales event at your home, church or place of business.  Many have had very successful events for fundraising for different causes, giving our crafters work while helping others at the same time. Would YOU be willing to  host an event?

  1. Orphanage Update

  2. A couple of months ago we sent out an “Urgent Request” e-mail asking for help to buy a second lot next to our first one and we are excited to report that God moved in the necessary hearts to make this happen.  Currently we are waiting for transfer of title and approval of building plans to proceed, giving us a little more time to raise the additional $40,000 needed to build the first of two homes.  Thanks to everyone who has prayed and provided thus far.  We hope you will take a minute to read more about this special project by clicking here.  And anyone interested in donating, please use the form and instructions found here.

  1. Death of Crafter

  2. Nobom (Kuki), a single mom in her thirties, died at home in the Eastern Cape last Saturday alongside her mother and 3 year old daughter.  She worked as a crafter when African Hope Crafts was still at Living Hope and later she found full-time employment at the Hospice there.  She would often pop into the shop to say hello, always bringing with her a big smile and laugher.  This is the first AHC crafter to die and we are all very sad.  The good news is that Nobom believed in Jesus and we pray that she is now in His loving care and that we will see her again one day.

  3. (Read more about this devastating disease in right column and please pray for Nobom’s family.)

  1. Visiting Georgia Team

  2. In April, a hard-working team from West Cobb Church near Atlanta, lead by Jim Scarr, accomplished many things in their brief stay.  Among them, they put a new roof on a child care house in Masi and repaired a shack for our shop assistant, Avuyese, (pictured right) located on the future site of our second safe house, where she and her husband and daughter will live and oversee security of the property.  Thank you to this generous team and all of our friends at West Cobb for their commitment to the safe houses.

  1. Last of the Cows

  2. Gale and Dale Adams, along with other friends, became known as the “cow farmers” when they raised money for labola (African dowry), which is paid in the form of cows to the family of the bride.  The last of the fund was used in April when our dear friend, Cebo, married Martha in Kwa Zulu Natal.  Thank you, farmers!  You made it possible for four crafters as well as Cebo to marry.
